Happy Mother's Day
Tis Mother's Day and joy around this time of year
But for me theres a bitter sweet lingering in the air
For it stirs a reminder when I was a wee lad
All the memories I shared with mum I had
Im not a grinch nor do I pretend to be
Losing her has forever changed me
Every special occasion and especially Mother's Day
If just for one day I'd like to recall what she use to say
I remember back to the days when I was a little kid.
I followed mum around and copied everything she did.
She taught me things in life that I should know.
Like mind your manners wherever you go
Remember to always love, laugh, and live.
The best kind of love is the love you give.
Treat others the way you expect to be treated yourself
Mind your language and don't be a potty mouth
Always wash your hands before you eat dinner
If and when you lose always lose like a winner
Always treat a woman with love, respect and grace
I'll slap you around the ear hole if you pull another face
No more fighting inside do I make myself clear
You make sure boy you got on clean underwear
She'd tuck you in if you asked her to so snug at night
Saying "I love you" as she turns out the light
She always knew just the right things to say
Always knowing just how to wipe your tears away
Memories of her flood peacefully through my mind
Of this person who was precious beautiful & kind
She raised us on her own
Made a safe and happy home
She was gone in the blink of an eye
We never got to say goodbye
With these last few words from your son
Thank you so deeply for loving me mum
Only heaven knows why you were the one taken
I'll never understand their decision makin
Mum I hope you will always know
That wherever my trail may go
My love for you will only grow
I just never knew quite how to show
Mum you were the greatest ;there's no one that comes close.
When we think of all our favourite things its you we loved the most.
Life has lost it's meaning without you here
The cost at times is more than we can bare
I see you all the time mum in people's faces
In my sleep at night and distant foreign places
I see you in the eyes of animals and I hear you in the song of birds
Your everywhere I go and in every strangers words
We celebrate the memories and years we've had
Whilst losing you will always make me sad
Your favourite foods are often made
Your favourite movies are often played
You gave us all the tools of life to carry on through any storm
Your loving memories will keep us safe and warm
If I may steal a line from the song "Vincent" it could be said for you
"This world mum was never meant for someone as beautiful as you"
You were our rock, our anchor, our North Star
Your guiding light shining down on us from afar
No amount of words will ever be able to say
Just how much we miss you every single day
I'd trade with the devil to take your place
Just for one brief moment to see your face
For those who still have there mothers around.
Don't ever be too proud to sit them down.
Tell her the words every mother likes to hear.
Open your heart and let it all out until she tears.
Take it from me, it may be the last time you ever get to say.
"I love you mum" I have every single day.
You have everything to gain and nothing to lose
Perhaps it's time that you paid your dues
We all have lost someone we loved along the way
That we recall their memories every single day
I appreciate the fact that not all mothers are loving ones
Same could be said I guess with daughters and sons
Sometimes in life things are the way they are
Love is out of reach, and repairing it just that little too far
So this Mother's Day take the time to share
Tell the one who is, or who you call mother you care
Some have mothers, some grandmothers , aunts or siblings
So if only just for one day, put a halt to our quibbling
Three little words that are free to say take it from me
Will light up the person who's been your mum you'll see
With that said theres three little words I must say
"I love you " mum until we meet again one day
Your sons - R.I.P - Jason / Pj
"A man never sees all that his mother has been to him, until its too late to let her know he sees it."
"The mother memories that are closest to my heart are the small gentle ones that I have carried over from the days of my childhood. They are not profound but they have stayed with me through, life and when I am old they will still be near."
"I miss thee, my mother, thy image is still the deepest impression on my heart."
"Sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment
Until it becomes a memory"
